Partnership Goal

Phoenix7, a Japanese-style game development company, contacted us once again with a request to help them find the perfect candidate for a 2D Artist position. Our previous successful cooperation with Phoenix7 in filling other vacancies became the foundation of this new cooperation. The goal of our partnership is to find and attract a talented and responsible 2D Artist to the Phoenix7 team, who will contribute to the company’s continued success. Here are some important requirements for this position that a potential candidate should meet

3+ years as a professional gaming graphic designer

Knowledge and experience of  game graphics

Experience in creating static images and animation data

Excellent understanding of the web development process

So, after reviewing the requirements for a potential candidate, we started our search. As in previous cases, we actively used our internal candidate database, which helps us speed up the recruitment process. Using both this database and the LinkedIn platform, we found about 60 2D Artists, 8 of whom responded and were interested in going through the next stages.  This showed a great interest among candidates for this position.

Additionally, in order for the candidate to be invited to a technical interview, the company wanted to see an interesting and creative portfolio that would showcase the skills of the candidate. So, after reviewing the candidates’ experience and looking through all the portfolios, the company invited 3 potential candidates for a technical interview.

The interview itself included the following elements:

  1. Assessment of technical skills:

The first stage was the technical skills assessment, which included technical questions and tasks aimed at determining their qualifications and expertise in 2D art. This stage allowed us to evaluate the level of their technical knowledge and professional skills, which are critical for the role of 2D Artist.

  1. Assessment of soft-skills with HR:

An HR representative of the company was also present during the technical interview and cooperated with us during the evaluation process. She observed the technical interview and assessed the candidates’ adaptability and communication skills.

After a successful technical interview, one of the candidates was invited to the final stage of the interview with Phoenix7 representatives from Japan. At this stage, they discussed the candidate’s motivation, vision of cooperation, and other aspects related to his potential role in the company. This conversation was aimed at finding out how well the candidate aligned with Phoenix7’s goals and values, and whether the candidate was ready to contribute to the joint success.

This conversation helped to emphasize important aspects that are not taken into account during the technical interview and gave the candidate the opportunity to express his motivational wishes that are important for joint success at Phoenix7. Based on the results of this conversation, a decision was made to offer the candidate the opportunity to join the company, and the candidate accepted the offer.

After accepting the offer from Phoenix7, the new employee was successfully integrated into the team and began to actively contribute to the company’s work. He joined the projects and is now working together with the team to achieve the company’s goals.
