Plarium was on the lookout for a recruitment partner capable of assisting in filling the position of Lead Animation Artist for their in-game advertising department.
The goal was to find a leader with a keen understanding of game aesthetics and the ability to create compelling visual narratives, in line with Plarium’s commitment to innovation and enhancing the player experience.

Here are some requirements for the position:

  • A minimum of five years in a leadership role within the field of animation artistry
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and leading creative teams
  • A comprehensive, current portfolio exhibiting proficiency in advertisement creation
  • Profound knowledge of anatomy, complemented by skills in animation creation
  • Demonstrable skills in 3D modeling and understanding of Body Mechanics
  • Proficiency in using Maya

In our pursuit of sourcing qualified candidates for the Lead Animation Artist role, we primarily leveraged platforms such as LinkedIn, our internal candidate database, and most notably, Behance.
This approach was crucial in our game recruitment strategy. Behance, as a platform where candidates display their portfolios, offered a unique lens to assess the relevance and advertising experience of animators.

We sifted through approximately 230 resumes and portfolios, thanks to these platforms.
Our game recruitment process was methodical, comprising several stages designed to whittle down the candidate pool to those most suited for the position.

The selection stages unfolded as follows:

  • Preliminary Interaction: We initiated a small-talk with 10 potential candidates, providing our recruiters an opportunity to discuss the role and the company further. This process yielded 7 promising Animation Artists.
  • Technical Interview and Portfolio Assessment: The 7 shortlisted candidates underwent a technical interview, where their animation and commercial creation skills were assessed. Concurrently, their portfolios underwent evaluation. This stage further narrowed the field to 3 candidates with superior technical abilities and impressive portfolios.
  • Final Interview with the Head of Advertising: The final stage involved in-depth discussions with the Head of Advertising. The aim was to evaluate the candidates’ fit within the company culture, their communication skills, and teamwork capabilities. Ultimately, 1 highly motivated and ambitious candidate was successfully onboarded to the team.

The game recruitment process took longer than usual, spanning over two months, due to unforeseen circumstances related to a full-scale invasion.
This situation required a heightened degree of flexibility and adaptability in our selection process – key aspects of proficient HR management and recruitment.
Despite the prolonged timeline, our agency successfully managed to identify and secure the employment of the chosen candidate.
