Navigating Game Recruitment: A Success Story of Filling Plarium’s Game Designer Role
Plarium Global Ltd., headquartered in Herzliya, Israel, is a leading developer and publisher of free-to-play mobile and social network games.
Established in 2009, Plarium has gained recognition for titles like “Vikings: War of Clans,” and “Stormfall: Age of War.”
The company excels in creating strategy and MMO games, known for their immersive gameplay and high-quality graphics.
Acquired by Aristocrat Leisure in 2017, Plarium continues to innovate and refine player experiences using advanced data analytics. As of 2021, they remain a key player in the global gaming industry.
From time to time, our agency receives requests from Plarium to find interesting and experienced candidates for the gaming industry, as we have gained considerable experience and expertise in this field during our successful 5 years of cooperation. And we, in return, are always ready to help find the right candidate and contribute to the development of the company.
So, Plarium was interested in closing the position of Game Designer for a new project, namely a game in the genre of crafting. In particular, there were a number of important requirements for the candidate, which the company believes should be met.
Here are some requirements for the position:
- At least 3 years of experience as a game designer for crafting games or farm genre;
- Expertise in working with technical documentation;
- Experience in calculating and adjusting the crafting game’s balance;
- Good mathematics, knowledge of the theory of probability;
- At least upper intermediate English.
Immediately after reviewing the basic requirements – namely, experience in crafting – we started searching for potential candidates. Thanks to our internal recruiting database, we sent 150 messages to potential candidates, 9 of whom responded and expressed interest in the position. We then invited the candidates to have a conversation with our recruiter, where we explained the project and all the information about the company in more detail.
After that, we selected 4 most relevant candidates and offered the company to consider and invite them to the next stage – a technical interview, where they could demonstrate their skills and answer relevant questions. Each of these candidates was also sent a technical task to assess their level of knowledge and abilities.
After the technical task was reviewed and successfully completed by a candidate who demonstrated in-depth knowledge and skills, it was decided to invite her to a final meeting with an HR representative from Plarium. At this meeting, the working conditions were discussed in detail and the potential benefits for the candidate were reviewed, after which she received a formal offer.
Despite the peculiarities of the position, which required mathematical knowledge and experience in crafting and farming games, we were still able to find the best professional in this genre.
The Game Designer, who is geographically located in another part of the world, specifically in Finland, nevertheless expressed a desire to join the project and provide interesting solutions in the future.
Therefore, the Game Designer position was successfully closed, and the candidate became a new member of the Plarium team.
