Our partner, an international retail company, is looking for a Format Director to lead the development and standardisation of store formats.
The company operates over 850 stores with a team of 7,000 employees and continues to scale its retail presence in several markets.
The Format Director will be responsible for defining a unified format strategy, developing clear standards for store design and customer experience, and ensuring their consistent implementation across all regions.
This role combines strategic ownership with hands-on management, covering everything from defining design standards and the customer journey to overseeing their adaptation and execution by local teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a unified architectural strategy across all markets.
- Design and implement global retail format standards (interior, exterior, zoning, advertising solutions).
- Manage global projects related to store architecture improvements, new format rollouts, and updates to existing formats.
- Analyze the effectiveness of retail spaces: how architectural solutions impact conversion rates, average purchase value, foot traffic, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee concept implementation in local markets and collaborate with local teams for adaptation.
- Coordinate with international and local contractors: architecture firms, equipment manufacturers, designers, construction companies.
- Develop new zones and integrate innovations into store formats to enhance customer experience.
- Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring high-quality execution.
- Lead the team: organize workflows, develop team expertise, and foster effective collaboration with local departments.
- Experience in architectural marketing, retail design, or commercial space planning.
- Strategic management skills in architectural solutions for multinational retail chains.
- Understanding of consumer behavior in retail environments and how design drives conversion.
- Experience leading international or cross-regional projects.
- Ability to scale architectural concepts across diverse markets while adapting to local specifics.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams in an international environment.
- Proven experience working with contractors, managing budgets, and delivering projects on time.
- Willingness to travel (to oversee project execution in different countries).
- Skilled in visualization tools and presentation methods.
